Vigan City Fiesta: The Prelude

It's this time of year again. Crowdy streets, lively spirits of people, the streets filled with color and many more! The annual Vigan City festival and Longganisa Festival, strikes again in the beautiful town of Vigan. For those who didn't get to witness this eye-opening event, this blog is for you. But first things foremost, what does this event mean and what is the essence of it? Come and let's explore this blog.

Vigan City fiesta and Longganisa festival is an event in Vigan that is celebrated during the month of late January. This event illustrates the Ilocanos' deep religiosity. The festival focuses more on Ilocano children. It is because Ilocano culture is not recognized by the province's younger generations. Even so, there is a strong focus on modern dances. Ilocano children can learn about their rich culture and traditions through projects like this. In my experience, the street dancing competition, held both day and night, were the highlights of this event, because they imply each other's cooperation and utilize their talent, specifically in dancing. Tho there are alot of competitors, there is only one group that is selected to take home the grand bacon. Still, the performances of each group stands out to me.

After the street dancing, this is the aftermath of it. Many people leaving the site, some heading into their respective homes and some may be heading to the carnival near.
If I were you, I wouldn't think twice and be visiting this festival because it's the only time where all the Ilocano's culture will be showcased in one place and in one celebration. Because being there is like learning at one glance. You'll know it when you see it.
